Back in 2014, Rachael McCrary pitched Jewel Toned at the Techweek Los Angeles competition.
“I decided that pitch competitions were a good way to get exposure for someone like me who doesn’t have a finance background,” McCrary, Jewel Toned founder and CEO, said during a phone interview. But “I met my lead investor that day on the pier . . . we ended up raising $1 million seed round from that experience.”
With over 16 years experience in the lingerie industry, Rachael paved the way for women's fashion designers standing out in the tech industry. Jewel Toned, a lingerie and shapewear brand, was built on creating cute, comfortable bodyshapers that celebrate your shape, not hide behind it. The Jewel Toned products offer figure forming hold while being able to show off (not hidden under your clothing like Spanx) curves.
Fast forward to 2015, Jewel Toned is now a successful ecommerce brand sold online and in stores nationwide.
